If you have a talent for making jewelry it might be time that you stop giving it away and start up your own home business where you can make some money off of your talents. In order to do this though, you are going to need to know how you can get your jewelry exposed so that you can start selling it.
You can try setting up your own website that can be set up almost like a gallery where you can display all the different pieces that you have made. You can describe what they are made of a long with the price of each item. If the site is well done and professional looking it is going to do a lot to boost the exposure of your handmade jewelry. With your own site there are no limitations and you can list anything and as much as you want. After you have done that you can create a business card and fliers that has your website listed on them and then you can give these to friends and people you meet as well as posting the fliers up at different places around town.
You can also set up an account on either Etsy or Ebay where they will allow you to set up a store front where you can display your items there and traffic will be directed to handmade store fronts when people start searching for such items. It's also pretty easy to set these sites up and you don't need to have much knowledge of website building like you do when you create your own website. Etsy is probably more popular of a site for handmade items than Ebay, but don't forget to use Ebay as well.
Another good way to get exposure for your jewelry is to sign up for craft shows that are in your local area. This is a great way to sell your items to locals and maybe even tourists that come to town. It's also a good way to pass out your business cards to people in case they want to contact you later for future purchases or if they have special requests that you might be able to do for them. When you go to a craft show, make sure that you have your own table or tables to display your jewelry, have a comfortable chair to sit in, display cases, coverings for your tables, a calculator, boxes or small bags for the jewelry that is sold along with a receipt book mainly for the customers.
You might also consider taking samples of your work to small specialty shops and boutiques around town and see if they would be willing to carry your jewelry to sell. You can sell it to them directly to them at a wholesale price where you still make money off of the sale or go on consignment where they get a percentage of the sale.
You can also offer to host jewelry parties, in your home or in the homes of friends and neighbors. This could be conducted much like Tupperware or Avon parties. These kinds of parties can be a lot of fun as well as a good way for you to make money and get your jewelry exposed to a variety of different people.
