No matter what kind of work at home job that you might have, it's going to take a lot of discipline in order to be successful. Sometimes it's far more discipline than there is needed if you were working away from the home. Some work at home jobs will even take more discipline than others. One of those would be a job where you do nothing but work online. The reason for this is that it can be easy to take off and start surfing the Internet or start playing games instead of doing the work that you are suppose to be doing.
The first thing you should do to help yourself be more disciplined it to sit down and make a list each day of the things that you are going to need to get done for that day. You need to start with the most important tasks or jobs first. This way you'll be able to get those done and out of the way. You may feel like doing something else other than what your list indicates but if you start following the list and notice things are being marked off as you go you are going to get a better sense of accomplishment.
After you have done all of the important things on your list you can then go to the things on your list that have been considered not as important. This could be personal blogging, however, if it's the kind of blogging that pays you money then that should be on the list of important things to do first.
It's really important that while you are doing the work that is important online that you stay away from any of your personal emails or forums that you might belong to. You may think that you can do this and consider this multitasking but you will soon discover that your online work is taking longer and longer to get done if you go off on sidetracks like this. Of course different forums can be part of your regular schedule but in a lower part of the list. These places can sometimes help you find more work so they are a good thing to do, just not while you are actually working.
If you notice that you get a lot of phone calls during the day and you keep answering them, you are never going to get your work done so it's important that you discipline yourself to let them ring and let them go to the answering machine. If you discover during the message that it's an emergency, then stop work and take care of the issue. Otherwise, forget it, let it ring.
If you are the kind of person that stresses over the messy house while you are working, you can fix that by getting up earlier than usual, clean the house, then have a good breakfast and then start working. You then won't have to stress over it while you are trying to work online.
